The Czajlik ranch is situated in the nature preserve of Dunatőkés. This preserved region is a very important part of a unique nature in the middle of an agricultural land in the south of Slovakia. This area has 306 hectares and a lenght of 25 km. From this lenght the water course is 18 km long and the speciality of this course is that it has no spring - it is fed from underground water.

The width together with the shore fauna is 25 - 70 cm. It starts in the catastre of the commune Orechová Potôň, it goes through the communes Dunajský Klátov, Horné Mýto, Trhová Hradská and in Topoľníky it falls into the Small Danube. The "Klátov branch" is well known for its beauty in width region. The native inhabitants call it "Klatovsky potok", hungarian "Tőkésiág" and Austrian "Elizabeth Fluss". The water is full of life. There is a big variety of water animals and fish, which can reach hoary dimensions. Fishing is in the preserved area strictly forbidden as in other preserved areas. The exploration of water animals in the "Klatov brach" is still not finished.
On the water surface we can find many kind of water and bog birds: wild ducks, dabchicks, decoy ducks, swans and other.

Sometimes we can find also caigues which are comming from the Danube side and near the water it is the beave-rat, hedgehog, rabbit, fawn and the weasel.

The flora has also a rich abudance. The shores are full of dense coppice of trees, where we can find oaks, maples, abeles and salixes. The shore coppices are changing their places with bog plants like rattans and water-lilys. In the water we can find a variety of water plants including the unique white water - lily, which covers somewhere even the whole surface of the course.
n the past the "Klatov branch" was often visited by many unique water birds. In the year 1993 the region was proclaimed as a preserved reservation by the annoucement of the Slovak Ministry of environment. The bodies of the environment would like to save this quite and unique place for the not disturbed development of our flora and fauna.
The members of these bodies believe that by the help of municipal offices, agricultural companies and cheerful inhabitants it will be possible to save this land, the "Klatov branch", for the next generation.

■ ■ ■   The dead branch of Csicsó

This preserved region has 134 hectares from which the aquatic basin is 76 hectares and the other 58 hectares are mainly salix-abele forests with ashes. It is situated in the central part of the Rye island, westly from the commune Číčov with a lovely scenario of a riparian land and it represents also the dead branch of the Danube with a variety of water biocenose and a unique flora and fauna.

The core of this region is the dead branch itself, which appeared on the north-east part of the Danube in the last century. The water surface is influenced mainly by the near Danube and the depth of the water is 3 - 7,5m. It belongs to the regions with the hottest and driest climate - its absolute altitude is 112m above the sea level. In the south-west part we can find a culture heath with shruberry formation and places with dense coppice of rattans and salixes.

■ ■ ■   National park Dunajské luhy

The Danube is a part of the national park on its ca. 36 km of lenght. Its water gets onto the flats and it influences the life of the water forest. The level of the water can reach the height of almost 7 meters what explains the influence of water on the heath.

These changing conditions influences:

1. heterogeneousness of biotops
- course of the Danube
- old branches and side-branches, different types of bogs
- stright shores and the places between land water
- sneer sides of shores
- riparian woodland
- xerophilous plants

2. heterogeneousness of species
- more than 700 species of higher plants
- more than 30 species of mamalias and 100 species of birds, 8 species of reptiles and 13 species ofamphibians, more than 50 species of fish
- rich fauna of land and water animals

The year 1997 was the year of the international annoucement, where the National park - Dunajske luhy was declared for a region with the highest need of protection.

Our Dunajské nivy
- "green group" between the areas of Vienna and Bratislava
- the biggest ecological intact area of this art in middle Europe
- almost free course of the Danube. which has a character of a hill river
- complec of ecosystems, which contributes to heterogenousness of the region, flora and fauna
- home of a variety of preserved plants and animals
- lovely beauty of the nature
- natural acumulating area for water
- source of potable water of high quality
- "green lungs" and climate regulator
- a place to rest for people.

A lot of things for the rural development a the preservation of this unique land.
